A Word from Chad - January 2014

We have been blessed beyond anything I could have imagined with the Christmas programs this year. Many people put forth a tremendous effort for the Christmas story to be told as each group presented the gospel. God was truly honored as the preschoolers, children, students, and adults presented the story of Jesus. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hard work and the time you spent preparing. To God be the glory!

On Saturday, December 14, I was awarded my D. Min. degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I must say it was the experience of a lifetime! As I reflect on the years it has taken me to reach this goal, I am so grateful for the support I received from my wife and family, as they made tremendous sacrifices for this dream to become reality. First Baptist Church, Tupelo, you also provided financial and emotional support, without which I probably would never have made that final trip to New Orleans. I could never begin to thank each member personally for the encouragement you gave me through cards, words, and prayers. There were many times that I thought it just was never going to happen, and I became so discouraged that I considered quitting. At just the appropriate time, God would place it on someone’s heart to send a note of encouragement, or someone would text or call and say they were praying for me, or one of you would meet me out somewhere and raise my spirits with your kind words. I am blessed beyond measure to be the pastor of FBC Tupelo. Thank you, thank you for supporting me along this journey.

PLEASE make every effort to be here Sunday, January 5th. I will be addressing the church concerning the direction that I, along with your staff, believe God is leading us. 2014 will be incredible! I love you, church!

Longing for His return,
Pastor Chad

I grew up in this church. During thw mid '70's to the early '80's, when Brother Bill Rittenhouse was our pastor.. I have such fond memories.. on Sunday mornings, when he would have all of the children come up on the steps to listen too a story.. and get our nickels to save for lottie moon.. the dinners on Wednesday night (Mrs. Gross always took thd tickets). And chior practice with Mrs. Dillard.. and of course listening to the adult chior on sundays.. I hope and pray that your services aren't just another Karaoke Sunday.. like so many others. I haven't been able to find a church who just sings the old hymns out of the hymnal, in so long.. I guess I just don't belong in the churchs of today.. and I am gay, so most do not accept or want my membership. I hope that some of the kids that I went to church back then, still go there today. I have very fond memories of my times there.. trips too G.A. at Camp Garaway.. I could go on and on.. I will never forget what your church did for me and how its shaped me as a person.
